I have decided to create this blog to show the updates and progress on my project car - 1.0E VW Lupo (1999)
I have been interested in cars from a young age, and this has largely been due to my father and my older sister, as well as growing up around various different car makes and models, but largely Volkswagens. I had been saving for some time and bought the Lupo in October 2007 as my first car. I was only 16 at the time and had another 5 months before I was able to start learning to drive which was frustrating! I had wanted a Lupo for quite some time, although when they were first launched we went to look around a new one for my sister’s first car, and I hated them! My sister settled for a Mk1 Golf as her first car, and over time I started to like the Lupo more and more. I really wanted to try and find one in yellow or ‘fantasia’ green (very bright!) After 2 or 3 months of searching I found a yellow one with 32,000 miles on the clock. So I travelled to Cambridgeshire with my Dad to view it. 4 or 5 days later it was on the driveway!
The day the Lupo came home:
After going to various Volkswagen shows and events I had become interested in car modification. I had a few plans for the Lupo which included: New CD player and CD Changer with iPod adaptor. Alloy wheels - VW starlites or BBS RA’s in black with a polished lip. Lowered suspension - either in the form of lowering springs or adjustable coilovers. This would all have to be very gradual due to lack of funds as I was still at school when I bought the Lupo, and I knew that the majority of it would have to be done after I had passed my driving test, so that I could declare all of my modifications on my insurance too.
